Music Technology: the amazing things you can do with your laptop
On Friday, 21/11/2025, at 18:30, our theater hosted the workshop “Music Technology and the amazing things you can Do with Your Laptop”, presented by Margarita Maragkoudaki, a musician and music technologist from Greece who is also part of our theater’s team, offering a creative session for a group of teenage students from our Theater Academy.
The workshop introduced the class to key principles of music technology and invited them to experiment with digital tools used to shape and transform sound. The students discovered and played with different ways to control music using MIDI devices, gamepad controllers, and even their phones. Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on exploration, they were introduced to new ways their laptops can function as expressive musical and artistic instruments.
Throughout the session, the students jumped right in—trying out audio effects, testing different software, and seeing how technology can be used in fun and practical ways, both on stage and in everyday creative projects. The workshop mixed basic principles with hands-on activities to give them a clear and approachable introduction to music technology.
The atmosphere was relaxed and curious, with students sharing ideas and discovering new ways to create and play with sound. The workshop offered them a fresh look at tools they can use in their artistic work and encouraged them to keep exploring after the class.
